What eFoil Mast Length Should I Choose?

For most beginners, the right eFoil mast length is 27 inches. Choose the 35-inch mast if you already control ride height and regularly ride deep water with chop or waves. Choose the 31-inch carbon mast for a confirmed compatible configuration, including Flyer EVO Master Plus.

If compatibility is unclear, or any part of your route is shallower than the 1.5 m (5 ft) minimum, wait before buying a different mast.

For Flyer EVO, we currently offer 27-inch aluminum, 31-inch carbon, and 35-inch aluminum masts in the US. See the Flyer EVO user manualΒ for complete setup, operation, and safety instructions.

Compatibility is unclear or the route falls short of the depth requirement

An incompatible setup or unsafe route needs a different solution

Keep the confirmed setup, use a safer launch, or ask for configuration advice

This comparison focuses on choosing the right ride height. Speed, stability, turn feel, and safety also depend on the complete setup and rider control.

How mast length changes the ride

The mast connects the board to the foil and propulsion unit below the water. Its length sets the vertical space between the board and the underwater assembly.

A shorter mast keeps the board closer to the surface. A longer mast gives the rider more vertical room, which can help an experienced rider hold the board above steady chop or waves. Choose mast length together with the foil and propulsion setup.

Experienced riders can use that extra room to manage chop and waves. Rising too high can breach the surface, while dropping too low brings the board back onto the water. A longer mast increases the space between those limits, while control still comes from skill and setup.

Start with the ride-height range you need. Then consider mast material, weight, wing choice, propulsion setup, and rider technique.

Check compatibility and water depth first

Before comparing 27, 31, and 35 inches, verify two things: the mast must fit the complete eFoil setup, and the entire riding route must meet the water-depth requirement.

Confirm the complete setup

Flyer EVO Lite, Waydoo Flyer EVO Pro Plus, and Max Plus are available with 27-inch or 35-inch masts. Waydoo Flyer EVO Master PlusΒ includes a 31-inch carbon mast. Compatibility depends on the board, propulsion unit, wings, and mounting hardware in the complete setup.

Before ordering, identify:

  • the exact board model and generation;
  • the mast you want to use;
  • the propulsion unit or fuselage and wing; and
  • the mounting hardware already on the board.

You can compare Flyer EVO models, then ask our support team or an authorized dealer to confirm the complete combination.

Check the shallowest point on the route

Keep at least 1.5 m (5 ft) of water across the entire route, from the launch to the riding area. Add practical margin for waves, turns, falls, changing water levels, and an uneven bottom. The full mast and foil need clearance throughout the ride.

Also check the bottom type, gravel, plants, wildlife, nearby boats, and places where people enter the water. Local rules and current conditions still apply. If you are planning your first setup, review what to know before buying an eFoil.

Damage caused by riding in water shallower than 1.2 m may be excluded from warranty coverage. The riding minimum remains 1.5 m.

If the route falls short of that minimum with a practical margin, choose a safer launch or postpone the purchase. The 1.5 m requirement applies to every mast length.

Which eFoil mast length should you choose?

Choose 27 inches for calm-water learning

Choose the 27-inch mast if you are a beginner riding mainly in calm water. It is the clearest choice for a first setup when the mast is compatible and the route meets the depth requirement. The shorter ride-height range also keeps the early learning task focused. Review the Waydoo Flyer EVO 27 Mast.

Move to a longer approved mast for regular chop or waves after you have developed reliable height control. Measure your vehicle and storage space before ordering.

Consider 31 inches only for a confirmed setup

The 31-inch carbon mast is a mid-length option included with the current Master Plus package. Choose it for that package or another confirmed compatible setup. Review the Waydoo Flyer EVO 31 Mast.

The 31-inch mast also changes material, weight, and price. Length is only one of several differences to consider.

Choose 35 inches for a recurring deep-water need

Choose the 35-inch mast if you are an advanced ocean rider who needs more room to hold the board above chop or waves. You should already control ride height and have enough depth throughout the route. Review the Waydoo Flyer EVO 35 Mast.

Stay with a shorter approved mast if you are still learning height control, usually ride calm water, have a shallow or changing route, or lack storage space for the longer mast. Choose 35 inches to solve a recurring deep-water chop or wave need.

Mast length is only one part of the setup. If board size or wing choice is also open, learn how to choose the right eFoil size.

Compare material, weight, price, storage, and warranty

The three Flyer EVO masts also differ in material, weight, and price. The 31-inch mast is carbon fiber, while the 27-inch and 35-inch masts are aluminum alloy. Compare these factors together with length.

Measure the mast against your vehicle, storage rack, and carrying space. If assembly or transport matters to you, ask for the current package details instead of assuming that nominal mast length tells the whole story.

Mast coverage for EVO Max Plus, Pro Plus, Lite, and Master Plus is two years in Northern America, Europe, and Australia, and one year in New Zealand and other regions. Eligibility depends on the product, part, country, proof of purchase, purchase channel, and service region. Confirm coverage for a separately purchased mast in your location through the Waydoo warranty terms.

Once compatibility and route depth are clear, browse the current Waydoo wings and masts. Choose for your normal water and present ability first; use material, weight, price, storage, and warranty to break a close tie.

Before you order

Write down:

  1. your exact eFoil model, generation, and current setup;
  2. the shallowest water from the launch through the riding route;
  3. your current height-control ability;
  4. the chop or wave conditions you normally ride;
  5. your measured vehicle and storage limits; and
  6. the mast you prefer and the problem it should solve.

Send the equipment details to Waydoo support to verify your eFoil configuration, or contact an authorized dealer through the Waydoo store locator. Ask them to confirm compatibility, current availability, delivered price, and applicable warranty terms.

Then make the riding choice: 27 inches for calm-water learning, 35 inches for experienced riders with a recurring deep-water chop or wave need, and 31 inches only within a confirmed compatible setup. If compatibility or route depth is still unclear, wait before buying.
