Flyer EVO Propeller System: Standard vs Folding vs Jet Drive
Flyer EVO Propeller System: Standard vs Folding vs Jet Drive
If you spend most of your ride under power, the Standard Propeller is the broad-use choice. If you use motor power to get onto a wave and then release the throttle to keep riding, the Folding Propeller is designed for that powered-to-unpowered transition. If you prefer an enclosed drive without an exposed propeller, look at Jet Drive. Option Best Fit Main Difference Standard Propeller General powered eFoiling Fixed propeller with a guard and protective cover Folding Propeller Wave and free riding Blades fold after throttle release to reduce drag Jet Drive Riders who prefer an enclosed propulsion setup Replaces the exposed propeller with an enclosed jet All three are propulsion options within the Flyer EVO eFoils system. Propeller Options and Propulsion Units Are Different Parts Flyer EVO uses two sets of names that are easy to mix up. Standard, Performance, and Elite refer to propulsion units. These are the motor units in the EVO system. Standard Propeller, Folding Propeller, and Jet Drive are rear propulsion options. For example, the EVO Propulsion Unit (Standard) and the EVO Propeller are two different components. Use the full component name when checking compatibility or ordering a replacement. Calling both parts simply “Standard” can easily cause confusion. When Is the Standard Propeller the Right Choice? The EVO Propeller is the broad-use option for riders who spend most of a session under motor power. Think about a normal flat-water ride. You accelerate onto foil, settle into a cruising speed, carve, slow down, and add power again. The motor remains involved through most of the session. The Standard Propeller uses fixed blades with a guard and protective cover. During normal powered riding, the blades remain in their operating position. The main difference from Folding appears after you release the throttle. The fixed blades stay open in the water, so they continue to create resistance while the board coasts. For ordinary powered cruising, that may only last a few seconds before you get back on the throttle. If your sessions mainly involve powered takeoffs, cruising, carving, and repeated acceleration, the Standard Propeller fits that riding style well. It also keeps the EVO setup focused on general eFoiling rather than adding a folding mechanism intended mainly for longer periods of off-power riding. Why Does the Folding Propeller Matter for Wave Riding? The EVO Folding Propeller changes what happens after you release the throttle. A wave run normally starts under power. You use the motor to position the board, build speed, and match the swell. Once the wave begins carrying the board, you can reduce or release the throttle. The Folding Propeller blades then fold back instead of remaining open in the water. This reduces propeller resistance while the board continues on wave energy. With the Standard Propeller, the fixed blades remain open during the same part of the ride. A typical wave session can repeat this sequence many times: Power into position. Match the speed of the swell. Let the wave pick up the board. Release the throttle. Continue riding on wave energy. Use the motor again to reposition. For someone cruising continuously across flat water, steps four and five may only make up a small part of the session. For a rider using the EVO for waves, they can happen on every run. At Waydoo, we see the Folding Propeller as one part of a wave-focused setup rather than simply a replacement for the Standard Propeller. The rest of the setup still affects how the board behaves. A smaller, more maneuverable board can make direction changes easier in waves, while the front wing influences low-speed lift and turning response. The Folding Propeller has a more specific role: reducing the drag left by the propeller once you come off the throttle. If wave riding is becoming a regular part of your EVO sessions, that is where the folding mechanism starts to make a noticeable difference. What Changes With Jet Drive? The EVO Jet Drive replaces the exposed propeller layout with an enclosed drive. Instead of propeller blades extending behind the propulsion unit, the propulsion mechanism remains inside the housing. This gives riders who prefer a non-exposed rear drive another option within the Flyer EVO system. It can also be useful in water where floating debris is more common because the propulsion mechanism has less direct exposure around the rear drive. Its purpose is different from the Folding Propeller. Folding changes the position of the blades after you release the throttle. Jet Drive uses an enclosed propulsion layout while the motor is running. The enclosed drive still needs inspection and cleaning after use, especially when sand, weeds, or other debris are present around the intake and housing. How Does the Rest of the EVO Setup Affect the Choice? The rear drive is only one part of a Flyer EVO eFoil setup. For general powered riding, board stability, wing choice, propulsion output, and rider weight can have more influence on the session than changing away from the Standard Propeller. Wave riding puts different demands on the setup. A more maneuverable board, suitable mast, responsive wing, and Folding Propeller can work together when the session includes tighter turns and longer periods without motor power. The Folding Propeller does not turn every EVO configuration into the same wave setup. It addresses the resistance created by the rear propeller after throttle release. Jet Drive works the same way as a configuration choice. Choosing an enclosed rear drive does not decide which board, mast, or wing you should use. Those parts still need to match the rider, skill level, and intended use. Flyer EVO's modular design allows these parts to be configured separately as your riding changes. What Should You Check Before Switching? Start with the EVO configuration you already have. Confirm whether your board uses a Standard, Performance, or Elite propulsion unit. Then identify the rear propulsion option you already have and the parts required for the change. If you are moving toward a wave-focused setup, check the board, mast, and wing together with the Folding Propeller rather than treating the propeller as the whole setup. If you are changing to Jet Drive, confirm the installation requirements for the propulsion unit already fitted to your EVO. The Flyer EVO Accessories range includes propulsion units, propellers, boards, masts, wings, batteries, and other EVO components, so you can match replacement parts to the rest of your setup. For installation, fasteners, inspection, and service procedures, use the latest Flyer EVO manual for the exact component.

Waydoo Underwater Scooter battery
Underwater Scooter Battery Life: Runtime, Aging, Charging, and Storage
When people ask about underwater scooter battery life, they usually mean two things: how long the scooter runs today and how well the battery holds up over time. For a realistic plan, start with your model's listed runtime, then allow for speed, motor-on time, load, setup, water conditions, temperature, and the charge level at launch. For long-term care, follow the instructions supplied with your scooter. A single short outing is not enough to call a battery worn out. Check a few similar outings first. If the scooter shows a safety or hardware problem, stop and use the care instructions for that model. What “Battery Life” Means for an Underwater Scooter Runtime is the powered time you get from one charge. The number on a product page is a best-case figure for that model, so real sessions can be shorter. Total time in the water can also be longer than motor-on time; use the same measure whenever you compare sessions. Battery lifespan is how the battery's capacity changes with use and time. Lithium-ion batteries age from repeated use and charging, and they also age while sitting in storage. Temperature and charge history matter too. There is no single cycle count or replacement date that fits every underwater scooter. How to Estimate Runtime for an Outing Start with the runtime listed for your scooter. Before you head out, think about how your planned use differs from a light, ideal session: Higher speed or more continuous motor use generally draws on the available charge faster than intermittent or lower-power use. A different load, accessory setup, or added resistance can change power demand. Water conditions and temperature can make two otherwise similar outings different. Starting below a full charge reduces the powered time available. Use that number to plan time, not distance. Leave enough margin to return safely and follow your scooter's operating instructions. Subnado runtime examples The figures below apply only to the named Waydoo Subnado models. They are manufacturer maximums, and the three rows should not be read as results from one identical real-world test. Subnado model Published maximum runtime Battery capacity Speed labels Subnado Lite 50 minutes 98 Wh Low, High, Super Subnado Standard 56 minutes 98 Wh Low, High, Super Subnado Plus 60 minutes 144 Wh Low, High, Super For a Subnado, use the Waydoo Downloads Center to match the product name, package, charger, and cable to the correct manual. Product-specific accessories can also affect consumption, so compare the same installed setup when checking runtime. Why One Outing May Be Shorter Than Another When a session feels short, compare it with another session that used the scooter in much the same way. Note: Check What to compare Scooter Exact model Starting point Battery indication before use Use Speed or mode mix and approximate motor-on time Setup Load, mounts, guards, and other installed accessories Conditions Relevant water and temperature differences Ending point Battery indication, warning, interruption, or normal stop Repeat result Whether the same change appears again under comparable use For example, a session dominated by the highest speed is not a useful match for one with brief, low-speed bursts. Likewise, total time in the water should not be compared with motor-on time. If the setup or use pattern changes, start a new comparison instead of treating the result as battery decline. Use normal outings for this check. If the scooter shows a warning, stop using it and follow the troubleshooting instructions for that model. How to Recognize Battery Aging Battery aging usually shows up as a gradual change across similar outings. One short session can come from a different starting charge, speed pattern, setup, temperature, charger issue, or device fault. If similar outings keep getting shorter, review the charging and storage history and keep your notes. Share those details with support instead of trying to estimate a battery-health percentage. A replacement decision should be based on the model's service guidance. Charge According to the Exact Scooter Manual Charging requirements differ between scooters. Use the charger, cable, protocol, connection sequence, and indicators listed for your model. Charging can take longer when the battery starts low, the charger or cable supplies less power, the temperature is outside the normal range, or the device needs attention. Before you connect power, inspect, clean, and dry the scooter as its instructions describe. Keep those steps with the model they were written for. Subnado charging configurations The Subnado charging times below assume the high-power charger-and-cable setup listed for each model. For these Subnado models, the USB-C area should be clean and dry before charging. After saltwater use, complete the model's cleaning and drying procedure first; do not improvise internal cleaning or open the battery enclosure. Subnado model Model-specific charging reference Subnado Lite Lite manual: about 1.2 hours with the specified PD3.0 100 W charger-and-cable setup Subnado Standard Standard manual: about 1.2 hours with the specified PD3.0 100 W charger-and-cable setup Subnado Plus Plus manual: about 1.2 hours with the specified PD3.1 140 W charger-and-cable setup Keep each 1.2-hour figure with the PD protocol, wattage, charger, and cable specified in the same row. If the expected indicators do not appear, disconnect the unit and follow the fault instructions for that model. Store an Underwater Scooter by Its Model Instructions Storage advice varies by model. Before a long break, check your scooter's instructions for the storage charge level, environment, inspection interval, and return-to-use steps. Record the storage date so you remember the next check. For Subnado Lite and Subnado Standard only, the current instructions specify a 50–62.5% indicated charge for long periods without use and a check or recharge every three months. Subnado Plus and other underwater scooters require their own model instructions. Follow the Model's Stop Instructions If a Subnado shows a possible safety or hardware problem, stop using or charging it and follow its instructions if: the charging area is wet or contaminated; the unit has visible damage; the unit becomes unusually hot during use or charging; an over-discharge indication or charging fault persists; or expected charging indicators do not appear. Keep the affected Subnado powered off, leave its seals and battery enclosure untouched, and save any indicator or error details. Send the model, charger and cable details, outing notes, storage history, visible condition, and fault information through the Waydoo Help Center. We can help you choose the next service step.

The-Amazing-Boat-Show-is-Coming-Back waydoous
The Amazing Boat Show is Coming Back
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19, the five-day Dubai International Boat Show, one of the world's top three boat shows, finally made its grand return on March 9th. Originally known as the Watersports and Powerboat Show, it was first held near Dubai Creek and the Dubai World Trade Centre. And it gradually moved along the main road, Sheikh Zayed Road, to the Dubai International Yacht Club, and finally to the newly built Dubai Harbor.     (from Youtube:Dubai International Boat Show - 9 - 13 March, Dubai Harbour - YouTube) The Amazing Boat Show  The exhibition had many attractive features. First of all, it presented a number of activities. Visitors to the Dive MENA Expo can explore the world of diving, learn about diving equipment and hear from famous divers such as Ahmed Gabr, who broke the Guinness World Record for the world's deepest scuba dive, and award-winning filmmaker and underwater photographer David Diley.      Moreover, the Middle East Yachting Conference was a key agenda item at the show. The Middle East Yachting Conference brought together over 100 of the biggest names in the yachting industry. Speakers included Michael Breman, Sales Director of Lürssen, Kevin Rice, Chief Creative Officer of Pininfarina, and in particular Sahar al Rasti, the first female captain in the UAE, who was also present at the conference. The conference featured presentations ranging from cyber security threats to the empowerment of female yacht crews.  Sahar al Rasti     Dive MENA Expo      The theme of the exhibition was equally appealing - sustainability. With its focus on eco-friendly product launching and driving important discussions on how the industry can give back to the environment, DIBS 2022 laid the foundations for a sustainable industry. This major five-day event aimed to combine the UAE's zero-emissions targets with solutions that address trends in ecological issues as part of its composition.      This year's exhibition included debut yachts, a stunning range of newly built models and a variety of up-and-coming boats and water toys. Many new yachts were launched exclusively at this exhibition. France-based start-up Seabbles, launched its new generation of urban hydrogen blimps, the seabbble H2, a sustainable transport alternative for waterways, marine areas, and protected areas. Meanwhile, Sunreef Yachts, the world's leading custom catamaran builder, showcased its eco-friendly catamaran Eco, which combines electric propulsion, superyacht living space, reliable sailing performance, and the industry's latest green technology to create a luxurious but totally eco-friendly catamaran powerboat. Many new products echoed the theme of the exhibition.     In addition to the yachts, many water toys also caught the eye. Faro boats, electric hydrofoils, and more also made a spectacular appearance at the exhibition. The Faro boat is the first fully autonomous, 100% sustainable boating solution combined with a solar base. Electric hydrofoils also attracted a lot of attention. What is an electric hydrofoil? An electric hydrofoil is a surfboard with an electric propeller. It is powered by a virtually silent electric motor that allows the eFoils to move quietly and emission-free while flying on the water. You don't need to look for a time and beach with waves - with an eFoil, you can enjoy the thrill of surfing whenever and wherever you want. You will be able to feel the excitement and pleasure of water sports while being green at the same time. Waydoo Flyer One eFoil     The exhibition provided an opportunity for peer-to-peer exchanges and allowed water sports enthusiasts to come together and discuss with each other. It would greatly contribute to the development of the marine leisure industry.
